Money conversations shouldn't make people feel small.

I'm Menchie. I came to Canada as an immigrant more than twenty years ago, worked across some very different industries, and eventually found my way into financial services. Today I help families and business owners understand what they're actually protecting — in plain language, without pressure.

Where this starts

I came here to build a life, the same way a lot of my clients did.

I came to Canada as an immigrant. Like most people who do, I arrived with a plan that turned out to need adjusting, and I spent years working in jobs and industries that had nothing to do with financial services.

That period taught me things I still use. What it's like to start over somewhere new. What it's like to work hard and still feel unsure whether you're actually getting ahead. What it's like to be handed a document full of terms nobody explains to you, and to sign it anyway because you don't want to look like you don't understand.

I'm also a mother. That part isn't a credential, but it is the reason I take the "what happens to my family" question seriously rather than treating it as a sales opening.

How I ended up here

I got into this because the explanations were bad, not because the products were exciting.

Financial services found me through the least glamorous route possible: I kept noticing that people around me — capable, hard-working people — didn't know what their own coverage did. Not because they weren't smart. Because nobody had ever sat down and explained it in language they actually use.

So I became licensed, and I learned the material properly. Entrepreneurship became part of the picture along the way, which is its own education. But the part that made the work feel worth doing was much simpler than that: watching someone's shoulders drop when a thing that had been vaguely stressful for years finally made sense.

I'm not the advisor who will impress you with jargon. If anything I'll go the other way, and check twice that what I just said actually landed.

How I work

What you can expect from a conversation with me

This is the part that matters more than my history.

  • Understanding comes before deciding. If you can't explain your own coverage to someone else, you don't really have clarity yet — you have paperwork.
  • Plain language is not dumbing it down. The technical wording still matters and still governs. But you deserve to know what it means before you sign it.
  • No pressure, and no rushing.A decision this size should survive you thinking about it overnight. If it doesn't, it wasn't the right one.
  • The limitations matter as much as the benefits.I would rather tell you what a policy doesn't do than have you find out at claim time.
  • Sometimes the answer is 'not right now'.Other priorities come first for some families. Saying so is part of doing this properly.

The education side

Menchie Talks Money

Menchie Talks Money is where I share financial education in plain language. This website is where you can explore how I may be able to help you personally.

Find Menchie Talks Money on Facebook.

Two different jobs

Menchie Talks Money is education. No appointment needed, nothing to sign up for — just explanations of how this stuff works.

This website is where you look at your own situation, with me, and decide whether there's something worth doing about it.

You're welcome to stay on the education side as long as you like. Plenty of people do, and that's genuinely fine.

Where to start

Start with a conversation, not a decision.

Tell me what's on your mind and I'll tell you honestly whether it's something I can help with. If it isn't, I'll say so.
